I have been checking the VR1 selections for almost 2 weeks now and in that time have come across one 25/1 winner, which to be honest I didn’t back due to other commitments.

Basically the system concentrates on 3 Virtual race meetings and the selections for 2 of the meetings can be found the previous night or early morning from the Bet365 website, you do not have to be a Bet365 member and do not have to place your bet in their site.

The remaining meeting’s selections can be found by checking you local bookmaker’s office, or up until now, the author has been kindly e-mailing the other selections on a daily basis. All online or office based bookmakers will take your bets. The office based bookie is probably the better option as you will require small stakes with this system or a large bank.

There are only 2 possible selections from each race (it is rare that 2 horses in the same race meet the criteria but it can and does happen). The problem is that there can be anything from 12 to 15 selections each day and you will continually need to increase your stakes slightly to make a profit. This also makes it difficult to place combination bets as the outlay becomes even higher.

The author does give details and proof (which can be verified) of previous winners and if you can achieve one of the double or treble winning bets, you are looking at a minimum of £67.60 for a 10p double and a possible £1757.60 as a minimum winning treble bet for 10p! The difficulty is finding these winning bets and they only seem to occur once a month (or 2 months), yet the potential odds return is very high.

It will be interesting to see what the author has for sale in the future.

Rating 3/5 This system is one you could have a bit of fun with, but I would recommend small stakes. It is free after all so it is worth a try, you might hit the jackpot!

The Four The Win system comes in the form of a 16 page PDF the first four pages cover the usual disclaimer and introduction in page 5 up to page 16 the author starts to discuss the system, options A & B and the staking plan which is based on Fibonacci, there are plenty of examples of the system in action.

The author acknowledges the fact that there is considerably less bets in the winter months and that’s why he came up with Option B. Option A is a set of four simple rules requiring two racing websites to find a selection, all Option B is, is a Option A minus 2 rules to allow more bets in the winter months. Now as regards the selections above only half would have qualified if using Betfair SP but I was able to secure a price within the range specified in the rules before the off.

Review Period 8th November to 19th November (12 Days)

8 Selections

7 Winners

87.5% Strike Rate

Average price of Selection: 2.05

Price of Losing Bet: 2.00

Profit/Loss + 5.65

I never got a chance to try the staking plan as I only had 1 loser, but it works like this 1, 1, 2, 3, 5 stop go back to 1 point so if your first 2 bets lose your next stake would be 2 points and so on, if my 5 point selection loses I revert back to 1 point according to the author this has only happened once. The system is fairly easy to use takes around 15 minutes per day and concerns female horses plus other rules. There was a only a few selections as you can see during the trial which makes it hard to assess.

Given the low prices of the loser and long as the system hits high seventies, low eighties on the strike rate it will make a profit.

Rating: 3/5 based on the Strike Rate and the fact it was a few points in profit

The author kindly sent us a copy of Betfair Legend to review. I read through the manual, unfortunately it does have some basic grammar and spelling mistakes, which did not initially inspire confidence. The manual does have a few pages of explanation regarding interpreting the odds and Betfair screen Shots, which are probably not required for the vast majority of punters purchasing this e-book.

The system itself is very simple and appears to be effective in producing consistent winning bets. However, there are some discrepancies over the odds (price) required in the e-book which require an explanation. The odds should be between x and y, yet we have one instance of Z? (If I quote the actual starting prices required it is not fair to the author). There is also a time factor involved and it is not clear whether this relates to the current racing season or does it include previous years, the same problem applies to the selection criteria, some horses will fit the bill but they may not have run for over 12 months?

I was disappointed to find that there wasn’t any proof to back up the figures quoted on the web site, to show how easy or difficult it was to make over £184K in 12 months. It is not stated in the promotional web page that this is a “laying” system, which may prove a problem for the “risk averse”. Back to the system, it is simple, but not for the 9 til 5 worker as you need to know the Betfair SP just, before the “off”. Undoubtedly, the system will and can produce some astonishing results and has already done so this week.

One word of caution with a laying system such as this, the rewards can be high. However, one losing bet (i.e. the selection actually winning the race) could potentially put a large dent in any profits. There is a simple staking plan with this e-book, which makes perfect sense, but you will require a minimum 200 point bank on Betfair to operate effectively, before increasing your stakes.

This weeks results.

3rd Nov, 4 selections, 4lays, all lost, +3.8 pts after commission

4th Nov, 9 selections, all lost +8.55 after commission

5th Nov, 1 selection, lost +0.95 after commission

6th Nov, 1 selection, lost, +0.95

7th Nov, 6 selections, 5 lost, 1 won at 7-1, -2.7 after commission.

Week:- 21 selections, 1 winner, 20 lost, +11.55pts on the week.

Rating 3/5 - Better than a lot of the other junk out there and would have merited 4/5 if there was something concrete to back up the profit figures.

UP TO DATE figures for you. Due to work constraints I have not been able to get horses myself daily but have inserted the criteria into the Adrian Massey database and these are the figures for November to date,

101 selections, 93 losers, 8 winners, so 93 winning bets were laid.

+13.75pts profit ( after 5% commission ) for the month to a 1pt unit stake.

The record from 17th Nov to 24th Nov was 36 runners, 3 winners, 33 losers laid, SPs of winners were 6-1, 9-1 and 11-2, so +2.45pts after commission and considering Betfair SP.

I have also done a review of Betfair Profit Raider, this was an upsell from Betfair Legend?

The e-book again goes through the same Betfair information, as Betfair Legend basically showing us how to read the card, the odds and describing back and lay. Unecessary padding for the majority of purchasers. The system itself is very easy to operate, but again has a drawback for the 9 to 5 punter, in that the SP is required, just before “the off”.This system concentrates on backing horses and there is no involvement with laying.

Due to the nature of the selections, if they do win it will be at a reasonable price, however there could be long losing runs inbetween the odd winner.I was again disappointed that there was no evidence to back up the claims, that £4000 a month was a possibility with this system. The actual selection shown in the e-book describing how to pick these horses finished 4th,
when I went back and checked the result from October 11th.

I have not gone back and checked any other results, as I would have expected some more detail from the author.

Rating 1/5. Not up to the Betfair Legend standard.

I was sent a copy of this system for review by the author and I have been testing Betting Against the Odds with real money (mine!) for the last 2 weeks now.

Basically, the system is simple and straight forward to use and the selections can be found with minimum effort. This system does produce some fantastic (above the odds) results, however there can be a lot of selections for the newbie punter and you may require a large bank.

The claims that you can earn 90% returns are a little far fetched, although this may be possible with some more guidance from the author regarding which markets to bet in and which to avoid.

There is no hard proof of long term profits and I would have liked the author to show his results for making £50 into £36,000 in one season actually worked. My £50 would have been lost by now.

I have recorded my selections on a spreadsheet with my bets, (backing every selection blindly) which does show a loss!

However, I am quite impressed with the concept and believe that if you are interested in football, and have plenty of spare time to analyse the games involved, you will be able to pick the value bets.

If you stick to the areas you know, it will probably work. Diversifying into the Norwegian leagues or the Finnish leagues for example might not be wise!

The author did provide a back up FAQ after purchase and does provide a selection service for 12 months at a reasonable price, which saves you the hassle of trawling through lots of games to find the selections.

I just felt that the selection process could provide too many bets and would therefore dilute any profit margin.

I have discovered another (entirely different) market by accident with this system, which does seem to produce winning bets,so far 6 out of 7 have won. As this has only been tested over 2 days, there is no way I would suggest that this system is foolproof, I will keep testing for the moment and keep you all updated!!

Rating 3/5 It could prove to be a winner.

PS. We’ve had a few Emails regarding Betting Against The Odds since this review was posted. It seems like others also have different methods of using the system. Below are a few emails from our readers which I think you might find useful.

They are as follows:

Looking at their screenshots (fakes???) it looks like the bets were placed around 15-10 min before kick-off, of course they said nothing about this in the FAQs. Instinctively I’d say it should be consistently over 100% payout, the higher the better, throughout the day if possible, right up to KO, say 2 mins before to allow you to place the bet. From what I’ve seen there is probably potential in this system but other filters are required. Let me know what you think.

Looking forward to your reply. Keep up the good work, top quality, much appreciated!

I tested this system also for 10 days now. Result is a disaster if you follow the rules. I’m also looking a little bit in other markets and found 7 from 8 winners in tennis. It seems that backing the outsiders in tennis if the Favourite is 1.60 or higher (and match is over 100% of course) gives a good profit. Good work with your system reviews, thanks for all testing!
Greetings from Munich, Germany

interesting I thought I should tell you about.

I’ve also been trialling Betting Against the Odds.

I’ve been using baby stakes, and like you I’ve been blindly betting all selections found within the system rules on a daily basis.

So far, my results following the system rules are as follows for the past 7 days:

52 matches bet.

9 wins

19 draws

24 losses.

Counting each win back and draw back as a 1/2 point so you have 1 point wagered per match, total profit or loss for that period is +1 point.

Bets in over 50% of matches won, yet only 1 point profit? The problem I see is that when you win you often win less than a full point because you have to subtract 1/2 a point from the other half of the bet.

With that in mind, I decided to check the results and see what would have happened if I had not split the bet and only backed the win or the draw.

Only backing the win would have been disastrous, with 9 wins and 43 losses resulting in a loss of about 13 points.

However, only backing the draw I had 19 winning bets and 33 losses for a total profit of 16 points! Average that out over a month and that would be well over 60 points profit!

Take a look at your own past results and I expect you’ll find something similar.

At minimum odds of 3.0 decimal you need to win 33% of your bets to break even. These draw selections have been winning at 37% with average odds of 3.42, hence the hefty profit. Keep in mind also that I’ve been placing all the bets on betfair or bet365 and the profit would be considerably higher if placing the bets at the highest odds shown on betbrain when finding the selections.

I don’t think 52 matches is a trivial sample considering the wide variety of leagues and competitions these selections come from, but I’m going to keep testing win/draw against draw only until I’ve reached 100 bets.

Thanks for all the good reviews on your site. They’re really helpful with identifying a lot of the useless crap my inbox is bombarded with on a daily basis.

Cheers, and profitable betting,

I managed to get hold of a copy Derek Nadin’s 5 year Consistency Plan and I was very impressed with the simplicity of this system.

A few rules but relatively easy to understand and getting the selections takes a few minutes a day. Alright for the 9 to 5ers as the bets can be placed at any time.

There will occasions when one needs to be brave because losing runs have been up to 20 races although if backing each way then this comes down to 8. I believe his omitting course winners for national hunt to be an error because although a small number races, course winners have shown a 76% return on investment.

I have been able to research this system thoroughly and although the past is not always a good measure of the future I can confirm, but for minor blips that the results going back over six years are accurate and the system has been profitable every year.

Despite what he says about the system it is a back fitted system but it has shown consistency over many years and there is no reason to believe this cannot continue.

My research shows the flat system made 26% profit on return and the national hunt system made a 68% return on investment. With minor tweaking of the flat system I have got this up to a 50% return on investment.

UPDATE 29/11/2009

5 year consistency plan has had an awful time recently showing a 17 point loss over the last seven weeks = 30 losers 4 winners and a return, at inflated early prices of minus 17 points. the problem is it is a back fitted system ie: the 5 year results for the tracks show a profit and for each year over the 5 years the system itself has shown a profit. It is reasonable to assume therefore that an ongoing profit can be made with the system. it is in profit for 2009 but only minor profits.

however the system is flawed because for any five year period other than 2004 to 2008 you get a different set of winning and losing tracks also for any individual year you get a different set of winning and losing tracks. the flaw is in the statistical number of results at each track in total for each year which is a minute quantity and would be claimed to be statisically irrelevent and as such makes the data highly questionable and prone to flawed results as we have seen over the last couple of months.

the one additional area of the system however which has some statistical relevance is not backing races under 5 runners and it improves the profitability significantly and is logical. it still remains a positive review but id recommend use for small stakes and part of a portfolio because there will be losing runs and potential for the system to go against you.

Rating 3/5 Average performer but worth buying to have in the portfolio.

This system primarily concerns trading on various sports including, Horse Racing, Greyhounds, Football, Rugby, Cricket, Tennis and Golf. The system requires the user to be at the computer tot place the necessary bets, therefore would not suit those who need to be at work when the majority of these trades take place.

The first 8 Pages are taken up with the normal superfluous information on using Betfair, if you have seen it once you have seen it a dozen times. There are I am afraid no results to check this system against as the manual contains no systems or selections as such, but illustrates quite nicely the trades the vendor has made on various sports.

The message contained within the manual is mainly concerned with trading out of a position where there is a chance of losing some of the bank to a position whereby every outcome is covered to leave a smaller but safe profit, in other words protect the bank at all costs. The vendor goes to great lengths explaining drifters and steamers and trading to ensure a profit whatever the outcome.

He also sites some interesting facts on betting in running, certainly some of this I had not seen before. The vendor recommends a particular trading platform to enable one click betting, having used this particular platform myself I can vouch for the interface, however there are other platforms available that offer broadly similar functions with a more realistic cost base.

Easy Trader pro is very similar to many offerings in the same vein, it does contain some information that I had previously been un-aware of, and however, the majority of the contents are in the public domain.

There is some interesting information in this manual regarding the various sports mentioned, however. as should be expected the action of trading is broadly similar to all of them. In fairness the system is easy to operate and understand. The system requires the user to be at the computer to place the necessary bets, therefore this would not suit those who need to be at work when the majority of these trades take place, unless a Betting Bot was to be employed.

Rating: 3/5 an interesting package as regards actual trading and also the types of sports covered, however the great majority of the contents are freely available on the internet.

I purchased Lay Guru in July this year. As usual it is the normal PDF download. What you get is a 42 page e-book. The first 16 pages is to do with Betfair how to join and use it etc, just a load of padding really. Eventually on pages 16 to 19 we get the facts and the rules to the system,

Now here lays a major flaw. One of the main factors mentioned in the text is not mentioned in the list of five rules that is that the horse should have not won over the course. The optional rule 5 about not betting in 2 and 3 year old races only, would leave you with hardly any bets. I have e-mailed the Lay Guru team about the missing rule and of course as you can imagine I did not get a reply, so all results quoted are using the additional rule of No selection should have won on the course., if it has disregard it The rules are fairly simple you also have odds limitation of not laying at less than 2.00 and no more than 10.00, also your selection should have won its last race. The other 2 rules would give the system away so for the sake of the author I shall not reveal these.

From pages 20 to 40 there are examples of how the system works, but once again another error. One of the examples shown is not relevant and has nothing to do with one of the system rules. The author briefly covers greening on one page (Why did they bother) and finally a staking system on the last page. Actually the staking system does work but once again it is not worded correctly I think it should read like this:

Odds up to 5.00 bet 5% of your bank.

Odds up to 6.00 bet 4% of your bank

Odds up to 7.00 bet 3% of your bank

Odds up to 8.00 bet 2% of your bank

Odds up to 10.00 bet 1% of your bank

This staking as I said before works well with the lay system and has produced some good profits but once again the wording of the e-book is lousy, I would also recommend a 200 point bank for this system this makes it easier for those using Betfairs own interface and not Bet Angel etc.

Right to the crunch does it work yes, and unlike the websites ballyhoo about being like having your own personal cash machine you could not retire on it. What it can be is a useful addition to your portfolio. I have seen other sites disregard this system as a scam but I think it is down to the poor presentation of the e-book and these people not reading it properly.

I have used the system since August and have 45 selections with 43 winning bets and only 2 losers (Winners) and have a level stakes profit of 34.27points. Now as regards the best time to use this system I would say March to December, it is for flat racing only, I found it hard to get selections for February and January was unreliable this was down to the same horses racing against each other on the same tracks which partly defeats the systems idea.

Now from March to October 26th this year there has been 109 selections and only 6 losing bets this is a strike rate of 94.50%, the average price of the losing selections (winners) was BSP 4.28 and the average price of all selections BSP 5.90. Level stakes profit so far 72.4pts using the staking plan the profit would have been 459.82 pts, to put this in money terms a 1000 pound bank would now stand at 3,299.10 pounds this is without increasing the stakes once the original bank had doubled etc.

There is a precautionary note last year 2008 the system had 113 selections with 23 losers that is an 80% strike rate, the average price of losers was 5.15 and for all selections 5.85. There was a slight level stake loss of 3.73pts but the staking plan managed to make a small profit of 62.32 pts., the system really suffered in June, July and October that year.

Now the systems longest losing run has been 3(Twice) and the longest winning run 27 (Once) and a few 20’s too. This system will not be for everyone because you can go a couple of weeks sometimes without a selection, although the selection process is fairly quick I prefer the Sporting Life it only takes 5 to 10 minutes a day.

Rating: 3/5 I think this has some potential but needs some more researching, it is very good in the better races on the whole , However It is badly let down by the lack of detail and clear explanation in the manual, also failing to answer my e-mail means there is no customer service either.

The service provides members with horse racing selections which are system based at approx 10am-12pm each Morning by email or in the members area.

The sales page claims: “The Bet Plan produces on average, 5-6 bets a week, that have the highest probability of winning, which also represents excellent value.”

I put the system to the test over a three month period and my results were as follows:

From the 28th January 2009 until the 30th April 2009 inclusive there were 38/86 successful bets. Placing £10 to win on each selection advised at SP showed an overall loss of £21.14.

My tests were carried out in what are typically considered as the toughest months in racing so it was not a total disaster if you take that into consideration. The loss could have easily been turned into a profit albeit small if bets were placed on the betting exchanges.

With a strike rate of 44% I am also certain that a profit could have been shown if the selections were used with a sensible staking plan. When I say sensible I don’t mean a progressive staking plan as a losing run of nine was hit towards the end of the trial. Although this was the only significant losing run it does once again prove that they can and usually DO happen.

Taking everything into account and looking at the bigger picture I will give this a 3 star rating. I will almost certainly do a re-test at a later date and will upgrade or downgrade my rating if applicable.

Rating: 3/5 – Worth buying and you can expect to win a steady amount of money when used correctly.

The system comes as a 21 page PDF document and contains 5 easy to follow rules.

The selection process should take around 10-15 each day and there are numerous examples of the selection process contained within the system.

Selections can be found the evening before racing takes place and your bets can be placed the evening before as well. Everybody should find the same selections which is a big positive with any system and the system rules made sense to me which was also a positive.

I put the system to the test and my results were as follows:

From the 20th February 2009 until the 31st March 2009 inclusive there were 68/125 successful bets.

Backing each selection using a £10 stake at Betfair SP and deducting 5% commission from successful bets made an overall PROFIT of: + £98.65

My profits were a long way off those published but then aren’t they all and at least a profit was made for once. The system was very up and down with losing days frequently following winning days so it’s fair to say that you should not expect your betting bank to grow quickly.

Based on my own experiences and that of others I have spoken to you can expect to make a small profit each month using the system.

Rating: 3/5 – Worth buying and you can expect to win a steady amount of money when used correctly.

The system in short is a back and lay, low risk method based upon certain pricing criteria using the Betfair website and a couple of well known bookmakers.

The system rules are easy enough to follow but can take 30 minutes plus per day to implement. You will need to view the markets when all of the outlined early morning bookmakers odds are available around 10:00am onwards to obtain your selections for the day. Unfortunately it is not altogether suitable for those who don’t always have access to a computer although the manual does point out some variations for part time system participation and the use of lower staking methods and such like.

Qualifiers can be found at different times of the day as price stipulations outlined by the manual are the key factor in finding your selections which incidentally must win in order to turn over a potential profit.

The system glosses over some issues with regards a negative trade which can always happen when you are backing and laying a selection. It also uses examples that in practice are unlikely to happen that often with the bigger priced selections.

The system has its pros and cons and in fairness has shown a small profit during the test. There were quite a few scenarios that could and did result in a negative trade and this in my view is the downside to the system. I am not altogether convinced of its reliability not to see the occasional adverse result which has the ability to reduce your overall profit margins. Once you are locked into a trade you are relying on the price to shorten in order to make your profit. If this price does drift significantly then you are looking at potential losses that are beyond your control should the selection go on to be successful.

This is not a system that I would personally use as more than often the selections resulted in a low risk no profit trade. Checking the price criteria does get easier as you go along but I couldn’t help feeling at times that it was getting a little bit tedious for the initial outlay and rewards that were being generated.

The system has some merits and has proven to make some profit but does have potential downsides if not followed correctly.

Rating: 3/5 – Worth buying and you can expect to win a steady amount of money when used correctly.
