Lay Guru – Final Review
I purchased Lay Guru in July this year. As usual it is the normal PDF download. What you get is a 42 page e-book. The first 16 pages is to do with Betfair how to join and use it etc, just a load of padding really. Eventually on pages 16 to 19 we get the facts and the rules to the system,
Now here lays a major flaw. One of the main factors mentioned in the text is not mentioned in the list of five rules that is that the horse should have not won over the course. The optional rule 5 about not betting in 2 and 3 year old races only, would leave you with hardly any bets. I have e-mailed the Lay Guru team about the missing rule and of course as you can imagine I did not get a reply, so all results quoted are using the additional rule of No selection should have won on the course., if it has disregard it The rules are fairly simple you also have odds limitation of not laying at less than 2.00 and no more than 10.00, also your selection should have won its last race. The other 2 rules would give the system away so for the sake of the author I shall not reveal these.
From pages 20 to 40 there are examples of how the system works, but once again another error. One of the examples shown is not relevant and has nothing to do with one of the system rules. The author briefly covers greening on one page (Why did they bother) and finally a staking system on the last page. Actually the staking system does work but once again it is not worded correctly I think it should read like this:
- Odds up to 5.00 bet 5% of your bank.
- Odds up to 6.00 bet 4% of your bank
- Odds up to 7.00 bet 3% of your bank
- Odds up to 8.00 bet 2% of your bank
- Odds up to 10.00 bet 1% of your bank
This staking as I said before works well with the lay system and has produced some good profits but once again the wording of the e-book is lousy, I would also recommend a 200 point bank for this system this makes it easier for those using Betfairs own interface and not Bet Angel etc.
Right to the crunch does it work yes, and unlike the websites ballyhoo about being like having your own personal cash machine you could not retire on it. What it can be is a useful addition to your portfolio. I have seen other sites disregard this system as a scam but I think it is down to the poor presentation of the e-book and these people not reading it properly.
I have used the system since August and have 45 selections with 43 winning bets and only 2 losers (Winners) and have a level stakes profit of 34.27points. Now as regards the best time to use this system I would say March to December, it is for flat racing only, I found it hard to get selections for February and January was unreliable this was down to the same horses racing against each other on the same tracks which partly defeats the systems idea.
Now from March to October 26th this year there has been 109 selections and only 6 losing bets this is a strike rate of 94.50%, the average price of the losing selections (winners) was BSP 4.28 and the average price of all selections BSP 5.90. Level stakes profit so far 72.4pts using the staking plan the profit would have been 459.82 pts, to put this in money terms a 1000 pound bank would now stand at 3,299.10 pounds this is without increasing the stakes once the original bank had doubled etc.
There is a precautionary note last year 2008 the system had 113 selections with 23 losers that is an 80% strike rate, the average price of losers was 5.15 and for all selections 5.85. There was a slight level stake loss of 3.73pts but the staking plan managed to make a small profit of 62.32 pts., the system really suffered in June, July and October that year.
Now the systems longest losing run has been 3(Twice) and the longest winning run 27 (Once) and a few 20’s too. This system will not be for everyone because you can go a couple of weeks sometimes without a selection, although the selection process is fairly quick I prefer the Sporting Life it only takes 5 to 10 minutes a day.
Rating: 3/5 I think this has some potential but needs some more researching, it is very good in the better races on the whole , However It is badly let down by the lack of detail and clear explanation in the manual, also failing to answer my e-mail means there is no customer service either.
