This is and will be one of the easiest reviews I have done.  16 points profit on a lay system with 2 to 3 qalifyers a day, normally one final selection and 3 losing …

O’Neil Racing System – Final Review

Submitted by admin on July 13, 2009 – 3:49 PMNo Comment

O'Neil Racing SystemAs I sit here writing this, I am not entirely sure what I am going to say about the David O’Neil Racing System, because it has me intrigued.

When I first read the manual I thought the guy was a nut.  I suppose I have been exposed to too many systems that mention the Fibonacci sequence, that my mind just switches off.  It doesn’t make easy reading, seems at times it looks like the only person who knows what he’s talking about is the author.

The strategy is really simple.  Really, really simple.  Its just backing  the favourite in certain races over a two day run. There is also a few other rules hidden away.  At first flush results can seem impressive but the penny dropped by the end of the manual, that this was a statistical quirk that really couldn’t be relied upon.

My main confusion at first was why the heck he kept mentioning random days and not really laying things out in black and white.  The tip off was the staking part, and I don’t think the author really knew what to say at this point.  I tried back checking this week from Monday to Saturday, and by the suggested staking you would have lost about 3 or 4
points, I didn’t bother checking with his burbling about increasing stakes.  Oddly if you had put one point on each of the selections you would have made about 1.5 points profit on the week.  Now I know a week isn’t exactly representative, but it confirmed that the overall strike rate was about 37% which for a favourites system is pretty rubbish, and with low prices, a invitation to the poor house.

Although the author talks a good talk, it really comes down to a favourite backing system.  The addition of the Fibonacci mentions is really just something to hang his hat on.  As to whether this is a long term or even sustainable system, I seriously doubt it.  I’m sure I could put a pin in the racing pages four times a day and pick a few winners.
It is interesting that favourites do win in these races, but as with all favourites systems, there are more losers than winners.  Also prices can be on the low side, so if you were using increasing stakes you could very quickly wipe your bank out.

So, all in all, this is a system that I believe is nothing more than putting a pin in the paper, with a few bells and whistles.  The random nature of the results show that it will work on random occasions, but it will just as likely fail as well.  I was disappointed because at first sight it looked like an interesting little system.

Rating: 2/5 – The system may have some merit but in my opinion it is not reliable enough to use in the long-run and is one to avoid.
